Z-wave technology

Z-Wave is a wireless technology specifically developed for the intelligent control of houses and buildings. It ensures communication among various ordinary electronic devices in households, their remote inspection and control. The Z-Wave devices communicate with each other using a wireless signal with a frequency of 868.42MHz (EU).

To use the Z-Wave system, you need to have the following items in your house:

Use the existing wall switches, but also – thanks to Z-Wave – also via remote control, smartphone or sensor-controlled automation.

The compact radio module is placed in a wall box right behind the normal switch. The switch is no longer directly connected to the load but acts as an input device for the FIBARO insert that is controlling the load. The switch only sends a control signal to the insert, which controls the load again. The solution works with all switch designs. You can use a momentary or a toggle switch. It’s recommended to use wall boxes with a 65mm depth. But smaller boxes with only a 45mm depth can be used too if there is enough space behind the switch. The available space depends on the size of the traditional switch, the dimensions of the wall box, and the amount of additional cabling placed in this box.
